Queen’s University of Brighton (QUB) is committed to working with students through the application and admission process in a way that helps articulate individual goals within the context of the academic program.
The curriculum of QUB is designed as both an online method and classroom environment of study for students who desire to integrate advanced academic study with their professional lives in order to attain personal and professional goals. QUB programs are based upon the latest knowledge and research findings in the belief that success in our graduate studies relates closely to the applicant’s past experience and present professional or employment goals. QUB, through the Admission Process, strives to match each student’s special qualifications with the degree program which will be the most advantageous to their assisting them in achieving their academic goals and objectives.
The Admissions Committee considers all aspects of an applicant’s background credentials in determining whether to admit the student on a regular or conditional admission. If a student is admitted on a Conditional basis, he/she will have one semester to demonstrate their academic knowledge and ability to learn by maintaining a 2.5 out of 4 average. Once the student has demonstrated their academic ability, the Conditional Admission will be changed to a Regular admission.
Admissions Committee Review
When the file is complete, the Registrar will meet with the Admissions Committee for review. The committee will assess two key factors:
- The potential for successful undergraduate or graduate study.
- The ability of Queen’s University of Brighton’s program to help the student reach his or her career goals.
Within 15 days of completion of the file, applicants will be notified of the admission decision. If there are specific questions about a file, the applicant will be given the opportunity to respond before a decision is made. (Back to Top)

Conditional Admission
Applications that are complete but contain a transcript that does not fully comply with Queen’s University of Brighton’s academic admissions standards are categorized as conditional. Students admitted in this category must demonstrate their ability to handle the academic work by achieving a grade of “B” or better in their first two courses. Achieving this will result in the conditional modifier being removed. Failure to achieve a “B” in either (or both) of their first two courses may result in a withdrawal of Queen’s University of Brighton’s offer of admission.
Applications that are not complete, usually missing some portion of the application such as an official transcript, may be granted conditional admission. In order for conditional admission to be granted, however, there must be some evidence that the academic requirements have been met. (Example: Conditional admission may be granted on the strength of a student copy of a transcript or a letter from an institutional registrar indicating that a degree has been earned.) In the case of applicants for whom English is a second language, conditional admission will usually not be granted while awaiting English test scores. Students admitted in this category are typically permitted one Semester to complete their applications. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal of the offer of admission.
Students that do not fully meet the English as a second language scores may be admitted into QUB under the conditional status. Under this special conditional status, the student will have one year (twelve months) from the date of conditional acceptance to fully meet the minimum score requirement of 450 (written). During this year, the student will be allowed to take two courses but will only be allowed to take one course per semester for a total of two semesters. The student must achieve a “B” in both courses in order to remain in the conditionally accepted status. The two courses will be taken in the first two semesters after the student is conditionally accepted. If the student maintains a “B” average in both courses and improves the ESL score to the minimum, then the conditional status will change to Accepted. However, if the student does not meet the ESL minimum score by the end of the first two semesters, then the student will have two more semesters (six months) to meet the minimum ESL requirement. During this last six months, the student will not be allowed to take additional courses at QUB. Failure to meet either the grade requirement or the ESL minimum score requirement may result in a withdrawal of Queen’s University of Brighton’s offer of admission. (Back to Top)
